2010 Bend Showdown 14-U Silver Champions Welcome to the home page for the Oregon Wolves 14A (Holmes) Softball team. We are an aggressive, solid defensive and a hard hitting ball club that plays to win at the highest level. Our players are rewarded by having fun and winning when they commit to being the best they can be.
As a 10-U team, the Wolves finished 2nd in the Oregon State ASA 10-A Championships. As a 12-A team, the Wolves competed at the 14-U level most of the season, yet had a very strong and competitive team at that level. Our coaches are among the most experienced and successful ASA and high school coaches anywhere. See complete coaching biographies at Coaches.
Assistant coach Roger Gray is one of the most experienced and outstanding hitting instructors among Oregon High School softball programs. During his high school baseball and softball varsity coaching career, Roger has helped to develop over 100 all conference (all–star) hitters and numerous collegiate level softball players. Roger is a former professional baseball pitcher and has a unique understanding of hitters from his extensive playing and coaching experience. Roger consistently delivers among the best hitting teams in all of Oregon high school softball and is looking forward to developing the most powerful and consistent hitters at the ASA 14A level this coming season for the Wolves. Roger believes “kids at the 14A level are at the right age and ability where they can both execute great hitting mechanics and learn how to approach each pitch in every inning.” Roger and Bill have enjoyed coaching together over the past three seasons at the high school and ASA level and are looking forward to making the 14A Wolves among the best in Oregon and the northwest.
Our girls (and parents) are committed to improving their softball skills through offseason workouts, private hitting / pitching / catching instruction, as well as strength training and conditioning. To assist our players in their quest for excellence, the Wolves own a year round indoor hitting / fielding facility that is exclusively used for our players and team. Our facility is a 1,500 square foot fully netted and indoor carpeted cage with either one large or two tunnels perfect for hitting, pitching, catching, throwing and fielding. During winter workouts, the Wolves also lease a larger indoor facility that the team uses for full infield practices, footwork fundamentals and positioning.
We look forward to 2010 being our best Wolves season ever! Thanks for visiting our website. For more information regarding the Oregon Wolves, please feel free to contact Bill Holmes directly at wnholmes@pdxcpas.com.
